Don’t let Obama off the hook

The dust up over the rantings of Jeremiah Wright exposes Barack Obama for what he really is – a Sharpton (or worse) in sheep’s clothing.

As I listened to Wright’s speeches on the You Tube clip (below on this site), I thought that this is the type of “dialogue about race” that we ought to be having. Of course, no one (not Clinton, not Obama) really want THAT type of “dialogue about race.”

Regardless, here is why I hope the Wright/Trinity video cost Obama the nomination and/or election. Obama hasn’t been honest.

Today (Saturday), Barack Obama is repudiating his “spiritual mentor’s” speeches. This is akin to Peter denying Christ 3 times before the rooster crows. Barack Obama is lying in his repudiation, and no one should let him off the hook for that lie. If this nation is to have that “dialogue about race,” then by all means, let’s ... Read More...

Really Bad News For Republicans

A few weeks ago, I wrote about the how the immigration issue was splitting the Republican
party
, perhaps permanently. Basically, the intransigence of the
anti-illegal immigration wing has split the party, making even a good
compromise impossible. This has alienated the fastest growing voting block
while accomplishing nothing of POSITIVE value (I agree that stopping the
last immigration bill was a good thing, but USA will NEVER do a “Full
Tancredo”.) The anti-immigration block refuses to use its newly gained
clout for a good compromise, and holds out for the impossible. The result?
Bush’s Republican successor (nominee) will NOT be able to look forward to
the 44% of the Hispanic vote that Bush rec’d. Good work, folks. Keep it up.

If polling is accurate, the Iraq war is having the same effect. While I
support ... Read More...

Immigration and the End of the Republican Party

Scary Headline for conservatives and Republicans, huh? It might be, but then, when the Whigs and Know Nothings of the 1850s flogged the immigration horse, it didn’t work out very well for them. They might be able to tell the Michael Savages and Laura Ingrahams a thing or two about political oblivion.

But then, it is hard to listen when both hands are over your ears and you’re shouting at the top of your lungs.

Is Public Education in America Even Legitimate?

This nation fought a War of Independence because it knew that British Rule was “illegitimate.” Abraham Lincoln brought an unwilling nation to war because he knew that slavery was “illegitimate.” What if America’s current public education monopoly is “illegitimate?” Would we be willing to do what
was necessary to restore its “legitimacy.”

A few weeks ago, I read an article titled “Reagan the Astute.” It detailed Reagan’s unerring belief in his ideals and the ideas that flowed from them. For example, rather than “negotiate” and/or “peacefully coexist” with the Soviet Union, Reagan merely decided that a “superpower” that enslaved its people didn’t deserve to be a superpower. When confronted with such
ideological views, the striped pants set at the State Department recoiled. Rather than listen to their appeals for diplomacy, Reagan stated, “How about we win.” And we did.

There is something very powerful in questioning the legitimacy ... Read More...
