After wife Michelle was attacked last week in a video produced by the Tennessee GOP, Sen. Barack Obama sent a warning to the troublemakers on Monday to “lay off my wife.”
No matter the outcome of the presidential election, the contest has served to permanently vault Michelle Obama from relative obscurity to fame, as she has taken on major fund-raising and surrogate speaking roles on behalf of her husband, even phoning superdelegates to try to close the deal for him. Michelle Obama has her own chief of staff and press secretary, and campaign advance staffers handle her larger events, where she has turned out to be a significant draw in her own right.

Michelle Obama is the Achilles' heel of her husband's political campaign. She has a history of embracing radical politics that belie her spouse's purported image as a social moderate. Opposition researchers are on the case and Barack Obama's attempt to declare his wife to be off limits (cf. Hillary Clinton's treatment in 1992) is nothing more than a failed preemptive strike. Michelle's record is going to be scrutinized in detail as the election cycle continues.
Pat H says:
It is my opinion that Michelle Obama, by her actively campaigning, has opened herself to scrutiny.
Therefore I believe we are owed an explanation for the following:
Christopher Hitchens in an op-ed piece published by the Sun Times on June 10th commented on the thesis Michelle Obama submitted when she attended Princeton University. The thesis, "Princeton-Educated Blacks and the Black Community", appears to espouse black seperatism and praises Stokley Carmichael and Louis Farrakhan.
Michelle Obama stated in Wisconsin while campaigning for her husband "For the first time in my adult life I am proud to be an American".
Michelle Obama sat in the pews of the Reverend Wright's church for over twenty years. Did she hear any of the troubling remarks that he spoke and has she read his writings in his publication, the "Trumpet", which, repeat his rants and raves?
We are owed an explanation from Michelle Obama and from her husband.
